Making a Case for Restaurants and New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is one of the most anticipated events each and every year all around the globe. Government’s spend millions of dollars on fireworks displays that light up the world, while party goers are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a single night.

Terrigal has its own relatively impressive entertainment each year… well, that’s if you consider blowing up a barge at the family fireworks entertainment!

We love a NYE party, (especially our upcoming B & W masquerade ball planned for this year) but sometimes people can try a little bit too hard to have the ultimate night of their lives. Often the stress of finding the perfect place, with the perfect people and the perfect outfit just leads to disappointment. We don’t think it needs to be so difficult to have a great night out, and thus a great New Year’s Eve.

We’re not going to stop you if you want to, but we’re not talking lips on lips necessarily. As the adage goes:

Keep it simple stupid.

Some things in life simply work because they have been tried and tested countless times. A simple black dress with a hint of gold jewellery and cheeky red lippy will never fail to be an eye popping outfit. A table with four legs, made with premium wood and keen craftsmanship will always impress.

An evening out with friends at a boutique restaurant-bar, drinking quality wine, eating delectable food, while the music plays simply can’t go wrong. Just because NYE feels like a unique night (after all, you do only get one of them once a year) doesn’t then mean that you have to do something mind-blowingly unique.

Often the best times are the simplest.

Restaurants and NYE

There is definitely something in the air on New Year’s Eve that makes most want to let their hair down, relax and enjoy some time with good people. This will only be more true with 2020 being the year that it has been: there’s no doubt there will be plenty of people wanting to shake it off like Taylor Swift did back in 2014.

The option of going to a restaurant on NYE can sometimes fly under the radar. Perhaps it doesn’t sound grand enough, and your friends feel like you have to enter the New Year with a meteoric Bang! We’re here to convince you that if you haven’t tried out New Year’s at a restaurant-bar before, you really should.

  • You won’t have to lift a finger. All you need to do is pick an outfit (preferably black & white for our masquerade ball!) order an Uber, then choose what delicious drink and food you’re going to devour.
  • Be with your loved ones. One of our favourite things about being at a restaurant is the amount of time you get to spend with your friends, or whoever you’re sharing dinner with. When you’re seated and the only people getting up to provide the drinks and dinner are the smiling waiters, your mind is free to sit with and truly be with those at your table. In this busy world, full of invasive technology, the chance to be with someone face to face hours on end is becoming a lost treasure of the past.
  • It’s reasonably priced. Sure, you’d save money if you cooked at home, but compared to some of the insane party events being offered out there, your back pocket is relatively safe.
  • If it’s a restaurant-bar like The Joker and The Thief, then you don’t need to leave your table once the eating is done. Indulge in dessert, and keep the drinks flowing until the joyous countdown arrives!

Cheers and here’s to a great 2021

We would like to say a big thank you to all of you who helped us get through one of the toughest years the restaurant-bar industry has ever seen, and we want to celebrate with you. So don’t let the businessmen drink your wine, let Dylan and Hendrix show you that there is a way out, and it starts with NYE and a great night out at a restaurant!

We can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store. See you then!
